Issue #189  |  Monday, August 24

Good Morning, Southwest Michigan! This week in FIRST & 42, we’re celebrating R.W. LaPine’s $9.5 million expansion in Comstock Township and the City of St. Joseph, which will create 70 new jobs and nearly triple its large piping fabrication capacity. Western Michigan University has opened Valley Oaks, a new first-year residence hall that is Michigan’s largest mass timber project, with room for about 1,000 students. HYPE is back for year three, with applications now open for young entrepreneurs across Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties to compete in the regional pitch competition. Advia Credit Union is also growing its Kalamazoo footprint with a new branch coming to the Milwood neighborhood. Plus, join us Thursday, August 27, for the Business Breakfast Roundtable and a conversation on attracting, developing, and retaining talent in today’s workforce.
